The Tesla Model Y has made history by becoming the world’s best-selling car in Q1 2023. This marks the first time ever that an electric vehicle has achieved this feat. According to JATO Dynamics, the Model Y sold 267,200 units globally in Q1. Not only did the Model Y lead global sales, but it also became the best-selling car in Europe for Q1 2023 and the best-selling vehicle among all passenger vehicles in China for Q1.
This is a significant achievement for Tesla and for the electric vehicle industry as a whole. It shows that electric vehicles are becoming more popular and are able to compete with traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.
So what makes the Model Y so popular? Well, it’s a long list, but it could be narrowed down to its beautiful design, impressive performance, advanced technology, and the supercharger network. With all these factors in mind, it’s clear that Tesla is making waves in the automotive industry.
Personally, I have a Model 3 and fall in love with it more and more every day. It’s better now than when I purchased it in 2018. The luxury of optional driving is a game-changer. I can drive when I feel like it and use FSD Beta when I’d rather have the car drive instead. The experience of watching the car drive takes a few weeks to get used to but I believe it will become mainstream very soon thus allowing robotaxis to become reality.
