First Cybertruck from Production Line

First Cybertruck from Production Line

This week we saw a leaked image of two stripped-down frames, or "bodies-in-white," at the Texas Gigafactory. The term "body-in-white" in the automotive industry refers to a vehicle's basic frame without any exterior panels attached, thus revealing the underlying structure. Judging from the leaked images, it appears that the frames are coated with anti-corrosion material as well.

Then on Saturday morning, the official Tesla Twitter account released a picture of the first-ever Tesla Cybertruck to roll off the production line at the Texas Gigafactory. In line with the company's custom, a celebratory snapshot of the assembled Cybertruck was taken alongside the Tesla team. The photo shows Tesla employees happy and excited throwing up the Cybertruck hand sign to commemorate this significant achievement.

What sets the Cybertruck apart from traditional pickup trucks is its distinctive exoskeleton design. This exoskeleton consists of numerous stamped and cast components assembled to create the vehicle's foundation. The exterior panels will be affixed to this base at a later stage. This approach contrasts with the standard ladder-frame chassis found in conventional trucks, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T.

Elon has mentioned that the Cybertruck will commence production in the third quarter of the year, possibly around September. Key attributes of this electric pickup truck include a roomy front trunk (frunk), all-wheel drive, rear steering, adaptive air suspension, and Tesla's cutting-edge Hardware 4 computer system. Considering Tesla's reputation for exceeding expectations, we are left curious about the additional features they may introduce for the Cybertruck. Exciting times ahead!
